The brand name of the popular lollipops 'Chupa Chups' translates as 'Sucky Sucks', from the Spanish 'Chupar' (to suck).

I went through most of my life not knowing that and pronouncing it with a short vowel "chupper chupps" and then I met the Hotmetalette who is Espanish and she wised me up. So now I have to remember to say "chooper choops" and try not to snigger. Which, er, sucks.
