top tier brush12 October
PAA Dapper Doc’sA very fine shave to start the weekend. There’s something unique about the PAA soaps (even the older formulation), they are just so rich even in my hard water with a badger brush. A wonderful lather and two passes of the Claymore left a smooth finish, nicely scented by the Lucky Tiger tonic.

I've tried a sample of that Ach Brito Musgo and could not detect anything unpleasant in the smell so I don't know what that would be.OCtober

Ach Brito Musgo (2024) Shaving Soap & Omega 10108 Hybrid Pure Bristle w/10049 Knot
Gillette 'New' Type Long Comb (GB) & Treet Classic (2)
Pitralon Classic Aftershave
Continuing open-comb October with a switch to this long comb version of the first iteration 'New' type. Made in England. On this side of the Atlantic, the 'New' type gained both a flat underside to the baseplate as well as a wide raised section which we call the flat-bottom and raised flat-bottom, respectively. Notice the slim raised slot on this baseplate.
I'll ping @MrK1 in at this point to write a few things about the Ach Brito soap since he did enquire when I posted it in the acquisitions thread. This is the latest formulation that reads very much akin to Muhle (and latest TOBS, for that matter) but has its own twist in the ingredients once it gets past the scent ... you know, all those unpronouncable chemical compositions.
Anyway, performance? Yeah, loaded up and lathered to be met with a stable, thick and cushioning lather. Granted, I've only used it the once but I don't expect to find performance up and down throughout the life of the puck ... that's based on what I know about this type of formulation. I'll know more for real after a few more shaves.
But, I do have to talk about the scent. Urgh! To my nose, it's Derby with a slight hint of ... er, sick? That's so perversely beguiling that I've been competlled to smell the soap a lot and now almost can't quite detect that initial abhorrance, but it fired straight back up when I splashed on the Pitralon! Gawd! I hope I've not ruined Pitralon now. I intend to use the same again tomorrow, so we'll see.
