Brush: Rod Neep #1810 - Short Retro Deluxe Silvertip
Razor: Gillette Super Adjustable 'F3' w/ Shark Super Stainless (3)
Soap: Tabula Rasa Steam Punk
Post: Thayers Rose, Tabula Rasa Steam Punk Aftershave Gel

One of those days today, that Monday morning feeling... Had a great smooth shave safe except for a momentary lapse in concentration on my second pass resulting in a nice notch in my lip! My own fault not respecting the razor. Aside from that it was a flawless shave. Very impressed with the Super Adjustable

The Tabula Rasa was most excellent, I did have a too wet brush to start but I got my lather on track eventually. I wouldn't call this a soap, consistency of the soap is like one of those ice cream mousses. Very soft and creamy, much softer than cella.

One hang up I have is the brush which I notice lost three hairs today, I haven't been 100% happy with it since I bought it second hand and if it continues to shed a few each use I may look to get it re-knotted in the near future.

Mon 24th April

Omega s10065 syn
Blues soap
Ever Ready HFT
Gem S/S [ 5 ]
Alum Rub/Rinse off
Williams Aqua Velva A/S lotion

Today rather confirmed my views, whilst I like this Razor I do not get the closest of Shaves with it
unless I do a lot a lot of polishing up work. Might be ideal for those who have lighter growth.

How many uses do you get from one of these Gem blades?

+ 1 on the Blues goat milk soap..superb performer, wonderful post shave feeling too.;)

DeHaven Model 3 / Plus Plat today with results from the Diplomat shave yesterday fresh. Nod for smoothness I'll give to the Diplomat but not much difference in terms of efficiency, beautiful BBS beard and head shave. Cold water, diy preshave and Il Cloniali soap (My Father's Face #4).

@Paul L , the neck area is probably the most sensitive area you're likely to shave and causes problems for many. A couple of suggestions: Derby blades might not be helping your cause, maybe try Astra instead (smooth, forgiving blades) and/or get a small sample pack of different blades to see which work better/best for you. At first, aim for a comfortable shave rather than the closest possible shave. Most importantly, use minimal pressure, as if you're only removing lather instead of trying to remove whiskers. Good luck :)

Thank you sir.

I've got some Proraso coming to help with the prep.
I'll give an Astra a try too.

I'm pleased I found this forum. You guys are very helpful and welcoming!

I too like you am a relative newbie and I can honestly say the advice given will help you with your current problems.
I have tried several blades now with my Merkur 34c HD and the Astra is amongst the best.

Preparation is the key along with no pressure on the razor. Another important factor is to insure you do not go over places around your neck that you have already removed the soap from. I found I was doing this because perhaps I did not remove enough growth on my first pass. I now know it was the angle of the razor to my neck. Just leave places you may have not removed to your satisfaction from your first pass and go over it on your second.
As said concentrate on moving the lather as apposed to trying to remove the growth.
Cold water after my shave I find is a must followed by witch hazel and a soothing balm.
Hope this helps and good luck mate!

That's a beauty of a razor if I ever saw one! Intricate design but beautiful nonetheless. What blades does it use?

Pre:
Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: P&C LE Platypus 2017
Soap: Lea Classic
Razor: ATT Kronos M2
Blade: Vintage Gillette Super Silver (4)
Post: Myrsol Emulsion
Splash: Myrsol Blue

Lovely three pass shave. Lea Classic is underrated - a truly excellent soap.

When the sun goes down, and in the morning,
We will remember them.
Lest we forget.
