Another DE shave and this blade has turned what I considered to be a bit of a show-pony into a workhorse. Excellent.

@SpeedyPC - how are you finding the Rapira Platinum Lux? I bought 50 of them recently by mistake (the pack looks a lot like Gillette Rubies). I have a mixed view of them. They feel terribly rough on the first shave (especially the first pass) but the shave itself is very close, and no weepers etc. Basically, they work well, but that first pass is just not much fun. I am wondering if it's worth stopping them (mixed feedback on the effectiveness of this).

Greetings All,

Tuesday shave.

Three days' growth (yup a LAZY weekend) and warm shave

Preparation – face washed with Clique Liquid facial soap (mild)

Pre: None
Soap: TOBS Lavender shaving cream
Razor: Rockwell 6C (4P)
Blade: Shark SS (4th)
Brush: RazoRock 400 Noir

Post Shave: Cold water rinse, Alum, re-rinse, then a shower and to conclude Proraso aftershave lotion (red) and Nivea 2 Phase.

So after a weekend of allowing the whiskers grow and let the sun bake my skin, it was time to get prim and proper for work (I know Boo you all cry). Kept with the Rockwell 6C 4 plates, and enjoying the shaves – the aggressiveness seems just right for me, but like I mentioned in an earlier post, I will venture to the 5 and 6 plates. The TOBS Lavender created a great creamy lather, though today it seems to lack the usual TOBS residue slickness which caused a couple of weepers.

Overall, 3 passes (WTG, XTG and ATG) very smooth and ready for whatever this week has to throw at me… Oh poop, I have the auditors in, so even though its only four days, it will be four LONG days.

Cheers,

A good trade with Benz3ne, thanks Ben, got me these two, my first shave with a 1912, night & day versus the ATT G1 that I returned, this old thing took most of it off in one pass!

The blade although secure seemed to flex a bit or my imagination? Struggled to get right under the nose but probably technique, very smooth finish.
The Sanskrit has a decent scent, a chewy kind of soap compared to the other p&b, not sure on my lather workings here!

When I first used the 1912, I couldn't see any way I would ever get it to shave right under the nose. I can't give specific tips, but rest assured that with more use, you'll somehow find it more possible.

Morning, Tuesday's shave, very simple :)

Pre-shave - Wright's Cold Tar Soap face wash.
Razor - ATT SE1
Blade - Kai Captain Titan Mild (Pink) (Day 7)
Soap - Wickham Soap Co. 1912 Citrus Musk Shaving Soap.
Brush - Simpsons Duke 2 Best Badger
Post shave - Myrsol "Lemon" Aftershave.

A lovely 2 pass shave, no issues - skin feels smooth, clean, irritation free and relaxed.

The 1912 Citrus Musk is a great soap, the lovely sent hits you with an almost hypnotic effect when you take off the lid (YMMV :)).

All the best,

Chris

Pre - Cien Soap
Brush - Yaqi 24mm
Soap - Tabac
Razor - Gillette Old Type OC
Blade - Trig Silver Edge (4)
Post - Alum/RSC ASB
AS - Eyup Sabri Tobacco

Today was the first time using the Old Type and a OC. It was a more aggressive than expected and possibly only until the 3rd pass was I closer to getting the angles correct at that point it was much smoother than my Futur clone and probably just as aggressive (the Ming Shi MS2000 is my only other reference point for an aggressive razor).
I used a Trig Silver Edge blade which I thought was used but it seemed the OC razor brought out a bit more life out of it.

Tuesday 29th August
RazoRock Plissoft
Haslinger Honig
GEM/Ever Ready Push Button
GEM SSC #6
Alum Wash
Duru Mandarin Cologne
Gillette Pro 3in1 Balm

The Push Button delivers a very comfortable shave of similar quality to the ER Natural Angle razors, plus has a very ergonomic handle. Shave was also aided by the tallowy goodness of the Haslinger.
