Greetings,

This will be my second christmas eve SOTD posting on TSR, and what a pleasure it's been through out my second year to share my thoughts and humble shave set-ups amongst like minded folk, i still pinch myself every now and then to remind me that i find it unbelievable that i now love my shaving hobby/pastime, something i never thought in a million years, as i use to immortally despise shaving with a passion.

Traditional wet shaving is personal thing, and it isn't for everyone, but for me it's a very pleasurable thing which i get lots of enjoyment from.

My Choice of razor for this christmas eve shave is probably my favourite razor, not because its cost was very reasonable, no, the muhle R89 was one of the first 'Proper' de razors along with the merkur 34C HD when i first introduced myself to de shaving and both razors gave me some of the most enjoyable no-irritation /nick free shaves. The muhle R89 was the razor that i paired up with very quickly which gave me the confidence to develop and advance my shaving technique and to enjoy the wonderful pleasure of traditional DE wet shaving.

I enjoy shaving with all my razors, of which i give all the same respect, but my R89 is a very special lady in my DE razor collection.

A very enjoyable christmas eve 3 pass + pick up silky smooth shave with no errors to report.

Finishing the special shave off in style with a very generous splash of Brut 'Oceans' A/S...wonderful stuff.;)

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling devine.

I wish all of TSR members a very happy christmas & peace, happiness & contentedness for 2018.

I shall be away tomorrow sharing christmas day with family & friends.

Enjoy your christmas eve, ladies & gentlemen.

Prep ~ Shower, Donkey & Goats milk soap
Razor ~ Blackland Sabre Level Two
Blade ~ Gem SS Coated
Soap ~ Grooming Dept ~ After The Fire
Brush ~ Stirling Boar
Post ~ BBA PSB
Scent ~ Minotaure by Paloma Picasso

I had to use this soap again today because I enjoyed it so much yesterday and I wanted to compare shaves between the fantastic ER Streamline and the equally fantastic Sabre Level Two using the same soap. As I suspected the two razors are equally matched with my average beard type and I got the same great results pass for pass.
BBA to finnish the shave followed by a few sprays of Minotaure, that 80s Classic :) P.

A merry Christmas to one and all :) P.

First of all, a belated Congrats to @culcreuch and have a very Happy Birthday @Clint64 :D:D

Pre: Warm water face wash
Brush: Omega 20102 Boar
Soap: MWF
Razor: Gibbs No.15 (on loan)
Blade: Astra SP
Post: Warm then cold water rinse, Vitamin E Oil, Pinaud Clubman

I've been wanting to try one of these razors for a while now, and when Iain (@Digimonkey) kindly offered to loan me one, I thought it would be rude to refuse.
I started off at N which is No.3 out of 6 settings.
Because it's an unfamiliar adjustable, I went straight into the wiry grey hairs, to try and gauge the razor. After a couple of strokes, I loosened the handle, turned it up to 4, re-tightened the handle and never looked back.
This is a very efficient and very smooth razor, as good as the Red Ring at about half the cost. Many thanks for the chance to try it Iain.
As with most new (to me) razors I gave it the alum test, no reaction.
How smooth did it leave me?
As smooth as the well polished runners on Santa's sleigh.
On that note, have a very happy Christmas everyone.

I'm pleased you have had the pleasure of a shave with the fantastic Gibbs Adjustable, you will surely be seeking one out after this trial.
Happy Christmas to you also :) P.

Proraso pre shave cream, Mùhle synthetic brush, Meißen Moroccan cream and Mùhle rocca razor with feather blade.
My previous razor was Edwin Jagger, mild and comfortable. The rocca is more aggressive with a wider blade gap and gives a closer shave with 2 passes, no touch up. However, the Feather blade is uncomfortable and several cuts! Maybe I have not found the ideal angle yet. I gave been applying nil pressure. Astra blades and GSB were fine.

Morning shave.

Baxters of California Face Wash
La Toja Shave Cream
SOC Cherry Boar
Little Wren Pottery
Brass General
Proline (5)
Thayers Witch Hazel (unscented)
OSP Barbershop Aftershave Tonic
Aloe Vera Gel
Czech and Speake Vetiver Vert

I was told I had to get a move on this morning so I reached for the La Toja. Even with my manky water I can whip up a great lather in seconds with this cream. Two smooth passes with the General and I was ready to go.

Congratulations @culcreuch!

Christmas Eve 2017

Opium Artisanat de Provence Soap
Vitos Preshave Cream
NSS Nutmeg and Spice Soap
Zenith Boar Brush
RaxoRock Black Hawk with a Feather SuperPro
Alum Block and Rinse
BBA PS Balm
Brian's Homemade Bay Rum

I am sure it is the same for most people...It's a bit of a rush finalising everything for tomorrow....but I did manage a 3 pass BBS shave to set me up for the day. The light razor required the 3rd pass....even with a SuperPro loaded. Looking forward to a nice glass of Port and a Mince Pie this evening:)

Quite a lot of SOTDs actually....Finishing with Saturday 23rd December

I went over to N Ireland last Monday to visit friends and Family so for 3 days used the basics I keep at my mother's to allow hand luggage flights.

Coal Tar Soap
King of Shaves Oil
Arko Soap Stick
No Name Chinese Synthetic Brush
Feather Portable Razor with a Shark Blade
Alum Block and Rinse
Boots Freshwood ASB
Javanol EDP (Molecule 04}

Three passes gave really smooth and enjoyable shaves.:)

Friday 22nd December

Back home to Wales and an incredibly important day demanded a very special shave.

Birch Tar Soap
Vitos Preshave Cream
Meissner Strong 'n Scottish Soap
Rod Neep Silvertip Brush
Blackland Sabre with a GEM SS Blade
Alum Block and Rinse
BBA PS Balm
D&G The One EDT

Three passes for a wonderful BBS Shave. Out for the evening culminating in the announcement of my engagement to my 'nearest and dearest'. Chrissie and I met 10 years ago.......so it really was time to do something about it:D

Saturday 23rd December

Olive Oil Soap
Vitos Preshave Cream
P&B Imperial Rum Soap
Yaqi 28mm Tuxedo Brush
Union Cutlery Expert Barber 400 4/8 Razor
Alum Block and Rinse
BBA PS Balm
Brian's Homemade Bay Rum

The razor was a Whipped Dog 'Sold unseen' which I bought a few years back. A little rough around the edges......but a great shaver.
Three passes for a really comfortable smooth and close shave:)

Congratulations! :DAll the best in the future for both of you.:)
