Impressed or disappointed …

gotta agree with a lot of this Chris... after all quite a few of my purchases were inspired by you... (AYLM Krokos, mongoose, nodachi...) But I disagree with ikon SE - it is an absolutely amazing shaver!

Didn't I pass my Ikon SE on to you? If I did it must have been through a lack of love so you could strip bits of skin off your face instead of me. It could be used as a wood plane though.

Indeed you did! Haha, well somehow I still do have my skin... as far as I can tell lol! I'm still tempted to try it's DE brother haha

I tend to buy my shaving products from specialists, as I know most of you do.

So, a big "happy with" Signature Soaps and Wickham Soaps.
Favourite after shave balm - Korres Marigold & Ginseng.
I love my Edwin Jagger 3ONE6 razor.

In terms of disappointments, I've lost count of the number of expensive "boutique" products that have bought as presents by my nearest & dearest and ended up in the bin. Especially aftershave balms which declare themselves "non-greasy" but always are.

So, Clarins, Elemis, Molton Brown, L'Occitane and the rest of the over-overpriced "image" brands - That's a nope from me.

Unimpressed

Anything to do with OneBlade - I purchased the Hybrid and then got fooled into buying the Genesis - which has been sitting unused for over a year now. The fact that they are still using the FH-10, as their proprietary blade is a cluster fuck. I've read that you can despine a Gem blade, but I haven't bothered going down that route, and most probably won't.

A&E soaps generally, they just don't agree with me - just like Boycie 83.

Impressed

Barts Balm - very good value for the price and a little drop also goes along way.
Blackland Vector & Blackbird - two of my favourite razors, both in brushed metal SS.
HLS Taiga - a poor mans Rocnel, but IMHO it does the job well.

I'm going to limit to the first five that pop into my head ... and I'll try to work in a modern/vintage razor, blade, soap, brush and cartridge.

Impressed

Muhle Rocca
Wilkinson Sword Sticky
Signature Soaps
Synbad Knots
Wilkinson Sword Hydro 5

Disappointed

Blackland Vector
Gillette Platinum DE blades
Myrsol Splashes
Vie-Long Horse Hair Brushes
Cella (Red) Soap

Probably many more unimpressed that I've disposed of and forgotten!

Impressed...

Arko and Palmolive soaps.
Yates Razors
Merkur 39c (Did I need to buy anything else)
Fatip razors
Various Signature soaps
Proraso products especially their cheap bristle brush.

Best avoided...

Vector Razor
Merkur and Derby blades
Quite a few other razors in the back of several drawers.

I would like to give this a try too, please? It certainly goes to show how different we all are, YMMV indeed.

Impressed:
Signature Soaps and splashes
Wickham 1912 Soaps
Bart’s Balms
Blackland Blackbird and Vector razors
Tatara Masamune Nodachi razor

Disappointed:
Ariana & Evans Soap and splash (irritation)
ATT SE1 Calypso aluminium razor (very efficient but it gave me so much irritation)
RazoRock Game Changer razors (.68 SB and .82 SB neither worked for me, both really inefficient)

Impressed:
Astra SP Blades, they just are (for me) very smooth and very sharp and a bargain to boot !!
Yaqi Synthetic brushes
Palmolive classic shave cream
Nivea Sensitive after shave balm
Merkur Progress razor ... its a little bulky, but so very versatile in its adjustability and it always gives a lovely close efficient shave

Unimpressed:
Feather Popular Razor ... i so wanted to love this cute litte TTO, but i just_cannot_get_a_good_shave from it !! The funny extended safety bars means that the shaving angle is all of nothing (maybe i am doing it wrong ?)

Wilkinson Sword soap in black or blue tubs ... I know its cheap, but the lather is always a bit watery and disappointing

alot of things are hyped beyond use. Look at how many wonder razors that were the end all of shaving have dissappeared after a few months of existence. Some razors i remember vaguely cant be found online.

But as far as not impressed,

merkur razors, nothing gillette shave quality here

merkur, dorco, gillette india, asia in general, a bad source of blades.
