I can only go by what I used and for me it's the Gillette Fusion.
For the amount of hype Gillette is pouring into this by stretching the brand my experience was a bit painful though it is gives effortless Shaves.

Every shave was like a time bomb, a day later without an exception I will end up with ingrown carnival across my upper jaw and neck.

Changing technique and sticking with the usual prep of Arko did not make a difference, what did make a difference was getting a DE which in my case at the time was the Wilkinson Classic.

May I ask what you didn't like about it? It has been on my radar for some time and I see it is now available through a UK Vendor. I really like their Bakelite slant.
Very large blade gap and exposed blade corners, but as I said razors are subjective and the person I sold it to liked it.
I've also read other people praising it but it isn't for me.

Over rated Hmnnn, bit of a loaded question it is more a YMMV question as one man's meat etc. The razor I tried but didn't like that a lot of other shavers rave about was a 1912 but it wasn't so much the razor I squarely blame the awful American Personna blades.

Titanium doesn't have the ridiculous weight of stainless steel.
Some of my favourite razors are brass which is denser (heavier) than steel.
Modern producers went for steel because it's cheaper and has less wastage when machined.
In the past manufacturers were mass producing and although brass is more expensive, it works out more cost effective when moulded.

Funnily enough I found the 6C far nicer to use than the 6S. Weight-wise they're not dissimilar but the 6C was considerably smoother in use (personal preference, of course). I personally found the 6S the most overrated razor when I tried it, though that was quite early in my wet shaving exploits, so my views would probably be different if I tried it again now...

Fully agree - I have both. The 6C consistently shaves more smoothly and leaves better results than the 6S. YMMV.

Why do you think that is? I guess casting pot metal is more accurate than their stainless production?

I'd say smoother finish as a result of plating. 6S is a sand blasted finish so technically a rougher edge. I'd guess someone may favour one over the other in conjunction with thicker vs thinner lather. Thicker, you'd likely see less ‘sticking' with the 6S then the 6C and the rougher finish would be more masked. Thinner, you'd feel more of the 6S and the smooth 6C would glide more easily.

Speculation but educated guess, I guess?
