Four Shaving Pass Routine..

Hot Water prep & massage with Coconut Oil
CV. Heljestrand Lather Catcher
NOS Heljestrand Hollow Ground Blade x 4
Semogue Boar Brush
Test Trial Tallow Shaving Soap
Organic Aloe Vera Gel
LOGONA Mann Aftershave Balm (From Germany)

I used the Test Tallow Soap & I just had the most wonderful shave this morning with my CV. Heljestrand Lather Catcher & Hollow Ground Blade..The Tallow Soap lathered very easily as previously mentioned...A nice silky sheen and very slick indeed...I am not using a Toy Razor here Kerry so I thought this razor & blade combo would be a Grand Test...This Razor & Blade Combo Demand a Soap with exceptional Slickness Cushion & Glide..All I can say is well..You have Hit the Button with this one...:p

This has been my most comfortable shave thus far with a Ground Hollow Blade..No Bones about it...Very Slick, Adequate Cushion & plenty of glide..The Tallow Soap lathers very easily without being thirsty..What more can I say...Good Job..:D

This one is just a personal subjective thing about the ingredient's of a tallow soap..I could smell the unmistakable scent of animal fat..I was brought up with that smell..My Dad was a Butcher for many years & all his clothes stank of that same sweet smell..Even after his clothes were washed they stank the house out...My Dad even had that same sweet smell when he came out of the bath...His friends smelled the same...Brought back Old Memories...

Back to the Soap...;)

Lather...10/10
Slickness..10/10
Glide..10/10
Cushion 9/10
Scent...Well I have mentioned that one..:D

What more can I say..That Razor/blade combo was a real pleasure to use today & the Tallow Test Soap sure as Hell contributed towards that...Well Done..:D

I had a similar confuzzlement as Stacy - when looking at my sample last night (under artificial light) I was sure I had been sent the Vegan sample, but this morning (under natural light) it does indeed look darker.

I sent Kerry a picture just to be on the safe side and since taking the sample out of the bag again, my fingertips have felt slicker than Snoop Dogg. It's incredible.

Today's shave was with the Vegan sample.

Mongoose razor, Feather Professional blade, Whipped Dog synthetic brush and face lathering.

The texture of the sample answered my mild criticism of the previous batch as this new one is quite firm and is not shredded by the brush at all. I face lathered and easily produced sufficient lather for a three pass shave. The tendency of the initial sample to 'set' on the face has been remedied and the lather was flowing and copious. It was quite water-sensitive, needing a spot more water than most. Feel during the shave was very good and the new batch definitely felt more protective than the old. I had neither nicks nor burn and, big bonus, the extra moisturising I was looking for is there. Not greasy but a nice soft after-shave feel.

In summary, I feel this soap answers all the issues I identified with the first batch. It is now not jut one I would use if available, but one I would buy.

Great job!

Tomorrow, the tallow soap and then some bowl-lathering experiments to let me see more clearly the build of the lather.

@Fergiebilly That razor is a beauty to behold :)
Thanks for the feedback so far, gents and I'm glad @Stacy555 and I cleared up the confuzzlement :)

@Fergiebilly that razor looks mildly terrifying and I'm relieved my soap stood up to it in the way you describe :D
It is something to behold indeed...Thank you...And Kerry that soap was excellent and it was a good time for me to use a Tallow soap as I am looking for a soap with this performance...I have been opened up to the wonders of a Tallow Soap...Thats the my first experience with a Tallow Soap an all...o_O

I have this Biotique Palmyra Expert Spa Men Shave Soap coming in from India & some Tallow Soap users have said its that Slick that they reckon that there must be Tallow in it somewhere ...Its not though...Its a Vegan Soap...I have a Tallow to compare it to now when it arrives ...Here it is...http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262163175536?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

This tallow is on par with Mystic Waters and Tabac IMO, would it be possible to have customised scent I can send you all the ingredients necessary? I can purchase a large quantity if needed.
I'd love to @Nishy the issue with custom scents is that the regulatory csa (cosmetic safety assessment) I'd have to put in place would likely make it prohibitively expensive. You're very welcome to pm me what it is you're after and who knows, it may be on my scheduled scent release :)

Just bowl lathered the vegan soap, it is a nice lather I would say it is very slick but the tallow (perhaps naturally) has slightly more cushion. Again I got a bit of that lovely gooey chewing gum kinda pre lather. My hands feel a little dry but could be different on the face. I left mine out of the bag and it became quite crumbly, could still press it into the bottom of the bowl.

I've just had my first shave with my soap sample (tallow). This is a completely honest review but please bare in mind that I'm not as experienced at this as most if not all others here.

Bowl lathered.
Razorock 24mm Plissoft.

I left a small piece of the sample to bloom in a bowl for 10 minutes while I showered and it lathered up very quickly with no problems at all. I would say it took 20-30 seconds to achieve the above and I aint no ping-pong champion if you know what I'm saying. :) Lovely.

Applying the lather to the face was easy. It went on with no problem and I face-lathered it a bit more to make sure it fully covered the hair growth and to get it quite thick as I like my lather (and because I love the feeling of this brush :)). Once applied, it stayed with no dissipation at all.

On to the shave...

Wilkinson Sword Classic.
Gillette 7 O'clock green.
3 passes (WTG, XTG, ATG).

Each pass went without a hitch. Protection was great, it felt very safe indeed and I never felt that I had to be particularly careful at all during the shave. Slickness was great also, even my plastic Classic razor was gliding along effortlessly, even when re-going over an area of wet but lather-less skin. In fact, my face and hands still feel extremely slick now, so I'd say post-shave feel is excellent too.

In the short time since I started DE shaving I've been lucky enough to try a selection of different soaps thanks to a very generous PIF which was offered by a member of this forum. I can honestly say without a shadow of doubt, that this soap is at least as good as any that I've tried, and possibly even better. If it was available to buy, I wouldn't hesitate to use it in my rotation. Fantastic job.
