Review: Timeless Razor's OC model

Timeless OC with Hempel Ti
Feather (1)

I received the Timeless OC Head yesterday. Since I have accumulated several handles, I decided to go with the head only. A couple of observations. The razor is stunning. Pictures failed to capture the true look of the razor. The polishing was first rate on the bottom plate and the outside of the top cap. The inside of the top cap was not polished or finished to the same standard. This in no way impacted the shave or my impressions of the razor.

There was no need to fiddle as I loaded the new Feather blade. The razor held the blade firmly in perfect alignment. I decided to proceed with a traditional 3 pass shave, WTG, XTG, & ATG. With such a large blade gap, one would think it would be a fairly aggressive razor. While I did feel the blade, I never felt as if it would bite me. Nothing like an Ikon Tech for example. However, the Timeless OC was very efficient much like my Wolfman OC. Overall I am very pleased with the initial shave and I expect the shaves will improve as I become more accustomed to the razor.

The Timeless OC arrived yesterday. I couldn't wait to use it. I subbed it for the Blackbird on July 5, 2016. It's a beautiful highly polished stainless steel razor. The head has excellent weight (39.2 g) and design. It holds the blade tightly. The razor looks aggressive with a ominous blade gap.

This is my second shave with TIMELESS OC. Loaded with a Feather HS, the OC plate has an excellent face feel, the shaving angle was easy to find, and was minimal auditory feedback. The design of the plate was such that there was no problem with clogging. The head design was good for the tight spots under my nose and chin. My shave was smooth and comfortable. I could feel the blade yet the it didn't feel particularly aggressive. I was able to j-hook, slide and blade buff safely. I did my regular two pass shave, WTG/XGT and AGT. After the second pass there was very little to clean up. The razor handled my trouble spots nicely. The result was near BBS with no irritation.

The handle makes a massive difference (more aggressive around 7.5/8 on a Progress), I used my OC on a Wolfman WRH2 handle today. Much more blade feel and presence as it did with the Wolfman OC head. But I prefer the stock handle on the Timeless OC it concentrates the blade, almost creating a sweet spot, as opposed to having the whole length of the blade strongly present on the face... if that makes sense. Guess this is why I love my Wolfman OC paired with a Bulldog handle. I'm looking forward to pairing both with the ATT bamboo handle too.

I had my first run with this razor today and was relieved that it is not as aggressive as it looks. Quite the opposite in fact. Using a Polsilver blade and some Razorock XXX the shave was smooth and comfortable and like the others said I could feel the blade but it wasn't too much. Pretty much the way I like a razor to feel. It was easy to get near BBS in 2 passes. No irritation and smooth. Not bad for the first go.

Great report Mike. I felt the same way. For work days I just want a quick efficient shave without any drama and the Timeless OC nailed it right out of the gate.
