My first shavette shave tonight, and boy was it interesting.
It didn't take long for me to plant the blade into my left cheek. No real bleeding from this first cut, but it was a sign of things to come. . . . A couple more small nicks either side of my mouth and another on my right cheek. Only one nick really bled so it wasn't as bad as it could have been I guess.
First pass WTG completed, rinsed and assessed the damage. Not too bad for a first pass really.
By now I was getting a bit narked at myself for not being able to hold the razor in such a way to use it as effectively as I should.
I was tempted to finish my shave with a DE, then had a word with myself, re-lathered and set about pass two, XTG (sort of)
This pass felt better, but still not properly getting to grips with how to hold the razor.
End result was pretty smooth in most areas, one or two small rough patches, but in all a pretty acceptable shave.
I will persevere with the shavette. I won't let my first experience with it put me off.
I must say a big thank you to
@Fox for sending me completely free and gratis the Wickham 1912 Irish Fern aftershave balm.
It smells identical to the soap to my nose.
I found it easy to apply, and absorbs very quickly. It's not at all greasy, and has left my skin feeling soothed and supple. Definitely a good balm, and I can see myself using it regularly in my shave routines.
Thanks also to
@RCH for supplying me with the weapon of face destruction, (Dovo shavette)!!
Fendi to finish, and I smell good!
