Maybe we should have an offers section in FDT.

Aldi have a Wagu beef deal on atm, I don't expect it to taste like the grade 7 stuff I had in Maze but it might be worth a shot.

Thanks for that Tony, I see it is limited to two steaks per customer.
 
The packaging conveniently covers up the steak so first have a look and see if it has the requisite marbling you'd expect from wagyu kobe style beef.

If it doesn't don't bother as for £30/kg you can probably buy better over the butchers counter.
 
Got to Aldi at nine o'clock and they'd only gone and sold out already! I was told that there'd be more Wagyu in tomorrow but I should arrive at opening time, which isn't going to happen.

That said I have had steak from there before and it was as good as any other supermarket steak I've had.

Sorry Boab, this thread has completely moved off from wine. :blush:

I decided not to chase it so I'm ordering from T&G for dads day, good if you live within M25 as it's free del over £25 and they sell onglet.

Thanks for that Antdad - never heard of them, but certainly looks worth giving a go. I managed to get meat sweats at Redbones BBQ in Boston. It must have been close to an overdose!
 
Yeah I hear ya, give T&G a go next time you want something special or not unfortunately it's no longer £25 free delivery it's £40 (within M25) but I usually order with a neighbour/friend. Meat is properly hung for at least a month and they have some interesting cuts like bavette (skirt) or butlers (flat iron) steak or treat yourself to a Porterhouse or ribeye on the bone. Rose veal has been good, can't really comment on pig or lamb although I did order a roasting joint so we'll see.
