What size and what type of knot? Personally, I think VS below 26mm is not well enough stuffed. Never yet had a bum TGN knot - Rudy Vey is about to fit a 26mm Grade A silvertip to a brush for me.
Very broadly speaking, I'd rate them in the order Shavemac, TGN, VS - and that would hold for most specifics, too, come to think of it.

My new Cadman C4 Guiness effect brush arrived today. It has a 26mm silvertip which is lovely and dense. My first quality knot and brush. Mervyn did a fantastic job. I'm delighted.

26/50 with most any maker will give you plenty of backbone - plenty. I have Mervyn set my 26mm knots at 56 or 58mm.
