Alum block or Styptic pencil?

Alum blocks do serve a different purpose - they are good to use as an all over face/neck astringent after a shave to tighten the skin and stop any very minor nicks from bleeding.

However, if you've really properly nicked yourself, you'll need a styptic pencil, and over 30 years of trial & error, I can thoroughly suggest you buy this one. It's the Osma Hemo-Stop and is the most effective 'pencil' I've ever used, it'll stop bleeding within seconds & I'm on lifelong blood thinners!. (I've linked the last place I bought it).
