My wife bought this as a Christmas present - on the basis of reviews she'd read. The name comes from the year in which the battle of Trafalgar was fought and Beaufort invented the wind scale. Because it was a Christmas present I used it on the day and was immediately slapped (about the best description I can come up with) by the smokey top notes. It's designed to give off gunsmoke and brandy amongst other things and then tone down to cedar wood.

I have to say my initial thoughts were that it's much too smoky - but having now worn it on a few occasions I'm getting to really enjoy the complicated make-up and different things that come through. It's a perfume spray so lasts a long time - I suspect it comes into its own long after I'm asleep.

Worth a try anyway - you can buy a sample from Beaufort.
