Much as I like the looks and specs of the U1 I am afraid if I got one and told my wife how much I had paid for it she would use it to cut off my dangly bits

Cave in and bought brass Higonokami and black Miyamoto Musashi Higonaifu from Japanese store at ebay. Cheaper than from EU.

Customs finger crossed. All in Â£25 aprx

I got mine from Amazon. Just be sure you get 'the real' Hironokami as there are a couple of close 'copies' out there

Second runner up was that beautiful Boker knife. When back at work I will buy two of them. One for me and one for father in law. He runs exhibition company and uses tools daily.

Yeah I really loved mine...for two weeks...until I misplaced it somewhere.
I'm sure it's somewhere where I deliberately put it so I wouldn't forget it...like the fridge or underneath a pair of shoes.

They are ridiculously sharp as well, mine is still a bit lose at the hinge though - makes me a bit nervous having it in my pocket.

If you want to pimp it out you can even get these little leather sleeves for them.
Not sure if that would help with it opening up accidentally. It looks neat though

One cool thing about the Higonokamis is that they are inexpensive enough that people try out different ways of modding/altering the knife a bit. Everything from acid etching blade and handle...to altering both in more or less invasive ways
