It does wear off after a while, it's not etched as when it does wear off, there will be no trace left behind. I'm not sure how it's done though.

Would I be right in thinking there are two versions of the 404? On the Vulfix site it's best badger for approximately £41, whilst I find on the Shaving Shack it's a mix for £10.99. Is the mix not listed on the Vulfix site for some reason - or am I missing something (again)? :huh:

Yeah the 404 is a bodger and 404B is badger.

I have heard that people buy a 404 just for the handle and put another knot in it as it's such quality.

Yes - it's lathe turned rather than injection moulded. No seams; solid and hefty.

Surely it must be a loss leader for more expensive equipment? How can they produce such a quality product and sell it for 11 quid?
