I'm with Evaa, go and buy one, preferably gas. Build a shelter for it. ;)
 probably with the good old yorkshire weather, not keen on a gas one as it seems pointless might as well use gas cooker, like the charcoal taste, was looking at getting this kit http://www.blackknightdirect.co.uk/View ... ?ItemID=44

I like that Black Knight idea! That looks neat and compact and practical, everything I need.

Bought the kit from b and q 20 quid and 45 for bricks and labour ;) looks ok me thinks.

Have a look for a charcoal chimney starter, it'll have your coals properly lit and ready to go on 20 - 30 mins with just a few sheets of newspaper. Zero hassle and no fire lighters, fluid or petroleum products required, brilliant product.

I have a weber kettle and it is great.Really sturdy and with the lid you can cook indirectly i.e you put the coals at one side and the food on the other, close the lid and leave it to cook.Perfect for a whole chicken om nom nom :hungrig .
Good job with the brickwork Slash, looks good.

Nice work Slash! My first BBQ was similar & worked very well. However, if the bug bites for Barbying like it does for shaving gear, watch out.

I do not have one of these, but have cooked on them & been to many a barby where they have been used. In a word - excellent.

My current pit is made out of a 3.5ft length of 30" oilfield casing. It wont blow over in a big wind
