Buying for the sake of it

They say that the newly converted to a religion are the most zealot-like in their convictions and attitudes. So goes for wet shaving. We all went ape-shit when we discovered the multitude of products available, and the encouragement of others on the forums who gave their testimony to the wonders of Soaps A, B, C, and brushes D, E, F, and not to forget the razors X, Y, & Z. Just looking at the topics listed on the home page of this forum shows the lengths to which a "hobby" takes over a man's life. It's the same in anything we do: Cycling, Golf, Photography, Porn, etc.
This is where you need to find those that have similar skin requirements /fragrance preference/viewpoint etc etc to yourself. This is done through spending time on TSR. As a newbie everything sounds and looks good, but may not be for you.

I have to disagree with this being an inexpensive hobby, apart from hardware more consumer goods will diminish. Would you spend circa £20 on a Toothpaste? Last week my shaving purchases cost around £800 that ain't cheap!

Nice one, the a/s is the same scent as the soap but mentholated and glycerine based. The soap is a winner.

I've been thinking of having a small cull of my razors so I can buy something different but unsure which will be first to get the chop. Probably the Rockwell 6S 1st gen but I like the tin it came in.....or the Ikon 102 head... but what to buy to replace them ?!

I somehow managed to get into, everything, without realising. Got a merkur, love it, got a standard, loved it, dont need anymore. Oh wait, I dont have any SE's, cool lets get an SE and an open comb SE. Ok, I am done now... Wait, alumnigoose red alert! 10+ razors later..

Brush, meh, who needs more then one or two. Lets get a 3rd, as I dont have any synths yet.. now on brush #11.

Soap, hmm, like that proraso, that smells good, that groupbuy looks nice, oh look a forum called BST, hello!!!
>30 soap/creams

But wait, I need a nice smellie to pair with my nice smellie soaps and creams
cue a 'large' amount of Edt, EdP colgnes etc...

I also have recently been aqcuiring talcum powders in in a variety of scents..

I know my numbers are low and tame compared to most here, but FFS, its a lot of money to spend altogether, lol!
(also, this is whilst still firmly believing I dont NEED any of it, a cartridge razor and a can of rexell still see very regular use!)
Ah yes, forgot about cartridges, I now have many diffferent flavours of those as well, giving some great shaves! Latest favourite being the Gillette Guard!

So yeah, I am buying way to much shit, that I keep meaning to sell on but never seem to do...

Sorry what was the question again?

At one time I owned around 20 razors. Vintage or new but all bought cheaply, except a FAC. I'm now down to maybe 6. Never owned more than 4 soaps or 3 brushes. The soaps were all cheap, Tabac being the dearest. Still got 2 EJ synthetics at £30 a pop.

I used to be like that but after a few years sanity prevails! I shall shortly be selling about 6 DE razors and the same number of brushes. That will still leave me with 4 razors and 4 brushes!
