Chinese DE Blade PIF II

Day 3 with the Ri,Mei. Not tuggy at all and after 3 passes still quite a reasonable result. Wondering whether to go for 4 days

Looks like they have stopped accepting Paypal payments :(

Who has? I've just checked freeshoppingchina which is where I got them from and they are still accepting.

Oh yes but apparently only temporary.

This is on the site

We found our Paypal instant interface is limited by Paypal and it's temporarily unavailable now. We are contacting Paypal to solve this issue. The estimation of the recovery is around 3 workdays. If you have urgent orders, please add fund via Western U-nion or MoneyGram as current alternative.

Out of interest, how much does the shipping work out for these blades? Looking at the shopping sites, the Super Blues, for instance, are coming in at under 10p per blade, which sounds very tempting, but how much does the shipping add?

To be honest I haven't really figured out how to search for the items let alone figure out postage costs. If someone posted a step-by-step guide with screenshots that'd be really helpful but it's a bit of an undertaking.
There is a seller called icechild1 on ebay who sells Rhino and Super Thins for a good starting bid.

As a side note I have used about five or six super thins and while I would class them as a very good two-shave blade (maybe three to four if your beard is fairly light) I did have one dud blade. On such a small sample size there's a danger of disprorportionate conclusions but that's all I have at present so the chances of a dud could be 15-20%. Or not, depending on how bad the badness is.

Yep use Chrome as it translates the Chinese pages on taobao for you.

I also found Google translate ( http://translate.google.com/ ) useful for copying chinese in to see how they describe items and then modify the chinese and search by pasting the new chinese into taobao on Chrome.

Here are some links to get you started

Flying Eagle - Search for "Genuine Eagle sided razor blades" the link is below

And the ones I ordered.

I dont recommend the seller I got the Flying Eagle from. Even though it says 5 blades its actually one 1.

Put in a small order after getting the hang of it all. I included one pack of suspect-looking Super Iridium blades (probably the Bocter and Hamble-branded ones from a little while ago!) If they are counterfeit should I use them?

Have made my first Chinese blades order. Used MisterTao. Had some account problems (couldn't sign in on one I had created a while back but not used, so needed to use an older email address to create a new account) but when I did it all (appears) to have gone swimmingly.
Just a small order for now in case it never turns up.
Still a bit confused about how it works. I understand I will have to pay more once the agent receives the items they've purchased on my behalf, but my shipping charge is already US$24 on a US$15 order! How much more expensive will it get?
I think I have order around 150 blades, all in?

Can someone clarify their experiences? Thanks.

Yes you do have to pay twice. The first payment is used to actually buy the blades and sent to mistertao. They then package up and weigh what you've bought and tell you how much it is to ship to you.

When I did mine there were several shipping options with different prices. It all depends on how soon you want them but shipping to me was a good proportion of the total cost.

Has anyone any experience with buying these on MisterTao? As I say postage within China from each seller to MisterTao has already cost me a lot more than the blades did and then there's MisterTao's postage to the UK and presumably their fees? Worried about the cost, hopefully unnecessarily.

Another thought: weight for each item is always 270g on the five pack of blades. So will the postage actually be a lot less and adjusted by MisterTao?

Any anecdotal help very much appreciated!!!! :-S

They do. I ordered from a lot of different sellers (16 in fact!). It's a lesson learnt if it works out that way once processed properly. When I've tried these I can then stock up on just two or three types of blades and hopefully avoid too much extra postage costs.

Oh dear! oh dear! I suspect your blades cost $15 and the within-China postage was $9 making a total of $24. However, you seem to have mis-used the calculator. You need to input your own weights and prices. If I remember correctly, an average card of 200 blades weighs 270g. So you have to tot up your total purchase price (for all items) and put in the total weight (for all items) and the calculator will then tell you about postage and total cost (items plus postage). You pay that much to MisterToa. He buys your stuff and then sends a message asking for second payment for postage from China to you.

I try to clear mu mind of Western expectations about how the site works and then proceed slowly, exploring like a child. Gradually, the site is beginning to make sense to me.

Why can't you ship razor blades? Because the Premier is being elected and Customs won't permit shipment of dangerous goods. However, the reason given to me was that it was not convenient to ship goods. - but it suddenly was again when their new Premier was installed.

I dry-docked several ships in Nantong, near Shanghai but on the other side of a Customs Border. The paint factory and its store of the British paint company was on the Shanghai side, my ships and their needs of paint - big ships, many drums of paint - on the other. It starts out utterly non-sensical but when you get your head into thinking Chinese-style, it's a piece of piss. Learn quick enough and you may retain some hair! Allegedly.
