I had a CH1 Super and D3 at the same time a several months ago.
The knots were nigh on identical in loft, shape and diameter. Both were very dense, but the CH1 was slightly denser, as you would expect. Both were a lovely hybrid fan/bulb shape before they went all weird and pointy.
Strangely, I found the Duke to have finer hair (Best) and the Super was quite thick hair, with soft-ish tips. Neither were pillow soft however, but I don't think any Simpson brushes are, by design. I sold them both as I found them to be lather hogs.
I imagine the CH1 Best would be pretty much identical to the D3 with maybe marginally more density.
I got so annoyed with Simpsons brush variation and pointy bulb-shaped knots that I don't plan on buying another. I love bulb knots, just not in a Simpson! The stiffer, denser hair they use coupled with their ugly pointy bulb shape doesn't feel right to me, however I LOVE my Savile Rows, whose hair and knot shape (rounded bulb) suit my preferences perfectly.
