'The City & The City' - China Mieville, is one of the strangest crime novels you will ever come across.

And I cannot recommend the 'Aurelio Zen' series by Michael Dibdin highly enough. The recent mini-series on TV didn't do it justice (but do they ever?).

The Wildclown series by G Wells Taylor.

A funnily sadistic twist to crime fiction.

Although not crime, have a browse over Bent Steeple by the same author, its along the lines of Saloms Lot but in a way that S King wouldn't get away with.
