I'm very keen to find out one morning soon! The same treatment took a tad of aggression out of a Weber PH and I'm hoping for the same effect here. Also, I hope some of the drag will be eliminated by the top finish coat.

a/ to make it a little different to every copy of the Feather stand
b/ it tries to replicate the end of of the razor head (see last photo)

The base diameter is 32mm and the widest diameter is 40 or 42mm, so it's plenty stable enough

Fair enough. That's logical thinking. I'm liking it a lot, thinking perhaps matching grooves?
