GEM stainless blades in a 1912 USA made Eveready any thoughts on this combo?

No problem at all, a 'bread and butter' SE shave. These blades are in any event the only SE blades available in the UK and then only from Connaught. GEM Blue Stars and Treet Carbon are only available from the states and you just have to 'take on the chin' the postage costs.
To be quite fair the majority of SE users do prefer the stainless blades in any case.

As an alternative you can use a Feather SE if you use the spine off a gem blade. An excellent shave albeit the blade is only good for two shaves, three if you're lucky.
