German Soaps

So we have some lovely German made razors, but does the country produce any equally fine soaps?

Klar Seifen is fantastic, Dusy Kabinett isn't bad either.

Yeah Germany produces excellent shaving soaps.. as well as ones mentioned they also have MÜHLE soap and Palmolive shave stick..and Meißner Tremonia is excellent! I hear Gold Dachs is also top notch but I have never tried that. I think the Wilkinson Sword shaving soap stick is also German made.

Did you directly compare the sadly discontinued Klar Kabinett with the Dusy Kabinett (which has been called a "shavealike", but has a different formula, IIRC)?

Unfortunately not, I think Klar Kabinett was already discontinued when I got into soaps & brushes etc (Jan 2016.)

Well, Klar Kabinett is a great soap and is prominent in my rotation, even though it was a humble and rather simple soap marketed to professional barbers. There is more luxurious stuff, but probably not significantly better in a practical sense.

Calani. Smallish pucks but excellent stuff. Their oriental plum is the only soap I've ever finished.

Finishing a soap is a lifetime goal for me.

The sadly discontinued Sir Irisch Moos was also a great tallow soap, I bought one from a member here on the BST a while back and it's a great performer.

That's exactly what I've read, I must admit that I haven't tried Tabac yet, but it's on a must try list. SIM is very slick and cushioning, it's easily the best product I've tried in stick form, and effortlessly produces enough lather for a good 3 pass shave.
