Hello All

Been DE shaving over six months now head and face.

After reading an artilcle from Bruce on shaving and a long time lerking, I started with a budget setup of Wilkinson classic DE razor, Parmolive soap stick and Wilko's bristle brush.

Bought a Derby TTO and blades as RAD started to get a hold, but didn't prefer shiny new toy to the Classic.
Now I've just got a Rolls Rasor with intact stone & strop but unfortunately no handle :icon_sad:

One question I have is how much and what type of difference a better brush makes, ie- better lather quicker or just nicer feel.

Hi, welcome. A better brush should make it a lot easier to get a decent lather.

Thanks for the welcome.

Does that mean you won't achieve the same lather with cheap brush, or just more time & elbow grease.

A decent badger will generate a better quality lather but it's the feel on your face which is the real difference compared to a cheap brush. There are a number of members who sell brushes which are top quality and nowhere near the prices paid in retail or on-line stores. Take a look in the appropriate section.

By the way, welcome from another Brummie - you might want to just edit the original post otherwise someone might get the wrong impression as to what you are shaving!!:icon_razz:

Welcome! IMO, you can make good lather with almost any brush - the advantages of a quality brush are ease and speed of making good lather (it's harder with a cheap, low-quality brush), and, as has already been mentioned, how the brush feels on your face.
