Back on Parris Island, about two minutes; that's with a can of Barbasol and a Gillette Slim with a Super Blue. Of course, at 18, whiskers are on the soft side, skin is pretty supple, and it was one pass, straight down. Didn't use the term at the time, but BBS, probably not a big difference from before the shave.
Skip ahead, about 5 to 7 minutes, Gillette Good News, and whatever soap/lather was around, whiskers grew up quite a bit, two passes now, one down, one up, DFS, off to work.
In this brave new world, clocking around 15 minutes, RazoRock Mamba, Cella, and a trusty Voskhod, three passes (or maybe four, depends on the counting), one down, one up, and lately one diagonally down towards the center line and then sometimes diagonally down away from the center line. The last are very light to pick up any strays. Started doing the extra passes as there was still soap in the bowl. BBS with no irritation. Work is very distant in the rear view mirror.
