Memory foam pillow

and the roads...

We have a full-on memory foam mattress. We bought it as I have some back trouble. It doesn't make the bed feel any warmer. In fact, the weirdest thing about it is the lack of movement and springyness, but you get used to that.

My back? Well, it does feel better in the morning than it used to, a fact that was reinforced when we last went on holiday, and I could barely move for the first 5 minutes after rising owing to the 'traditional' mattress we slept on.

On reading back the above, I can see that there is plenty of potential for innuendo. Please feel free to exploit this opportunity, as I will not be offended

Are these 'memory' mattresses specifically designed for people with problems such as our PornStar Ian, or can anyone use them?

It's all about good support isn't it? Reason why I ask is, traditional bedmakers such as Vi-spring or Tempur hardly mention anything about 'memory'.

By the way, Furniture village are doing internet beating prices on various items (inc. beds) at the mo.

Oh go on then, here goes...

Don't know if it's the mattress, but I usually wake up very stiff. Mine is a particularly hard one so my wife goes down very quickly and is always satisfied after a good night on her back. And if my head needs extra support she lets me at her big soft pillows.

OK??

These pillows and mattresses are very good.Expensive but guaranteed to last 15 years.Since I spend most nights in bed sleeping I thought the investment was worth it.I have tempur and can say it doesn't smell and the artificial nature of the foam means nothing (bed bugs) live in it.

Cor, this is an old thread. Think I'm going to resurrect it (calm down Ollie!!) as I'm thinking of going for a memory foam mattress for the wife and I, plus possibly the boys too. Can somebody recommend a specific make/model please? I have my eye on this from Amazon which strangely appears not to be made as a single. At £180 for a king-size + pillows inc. delivery it seems a bit too good to be true, but there are a small number of -ve reviews I suppose. What do you reckon chaps??

Well we got a memory foam mattress 2 years ago from Furniture village......very expensive.........Its too warm..( a clammy feverish sort of warm )....I wake up with back ache....and for the last few months Its been turned upside down as its more comfortable for me that way up.....

We have a new Mattress on order..but a Traditional pocket sprung one due to be delivered this week....I'll be glad to see the back of the memory foam one.........

I got a hypnia one direct from the manufacturer, king-size with pillows for about £150. That was a year and a half ago. Not looked back since, only problem is if I stay elsewhere, I always wake up with backache, unless its a really good quality traditional mattress.

Hmmm...two very different views. That's just confused me even further.:huh::huh:

Who lives nearest out of you two? Actually I'll visit you both to see where I get the best night's sleep. ;)

If you do go for one, make sure its got at least 3" of memory foam. As its only a top layer of memory foam and a foam base. Go for 10" overall thickness otherwise you'll struggle with fitted bed sheets.

Make sure you try one in a shop if you can,we had ours for 4-5 yrs now and its still great..cost a fortune but worth every penny as i suffered with really bad back but been fine since we got this...Be carefull there are some that are crap and dont last 5 mins..would agree they are quite warm and deffo take some getting used to as well...if you have a tj hughes they had some in for 200 quid for kingsize and they were slumberland ones, got one for the daughters bed and she loves it.
