I've been using the alum without issue for the last few weeks - I'll continue to use it and see if it occurs again though. I do actually prefer the Clinique Post Shave healer, but the cost is prohibitive and it's not as effective at stopping small bleeds. I suspect the astringent in the alum isn't really suited to my skin - although I use a similar "toner" without any problems to try and get rid of blackheads on my nose - but I don't use that when I've just had a shave...
