OC or Slant?

Since it's got colder i regularly dont shave during the week. I think the beard must insulate my face or something!

I'm wondering which would be better to cut through 5 days of beard?

My collection of DE razors are all closed comb or safety bar at the moment.

I know i'll probably buy both, so the real question is Which New or Vintage OC razor would you recommend to a first time OC user to go with their new 37c?

I've not got much experience with Open Combs as of yet apart from a few that I have tried.

The Muhle R41 is a real aggressive beast, it will do a good job but if you are not used to an aggressive razor I think I would pass this one by.

The iKon Deluxe Open Comb is a joy to use and very effective, probably the most aggressive of all the modern iKons. I do have a more aggressive older one but that is a rarity.

Gillette NEW open comb's get good reviews, especially married up with a heavier handle, I have just picked one up in the BST which I am looking forward too. I believe there is another one still available in BST.

That's all I know, as I said, I'm not very experienced in the Open Comb department.

I'm looking forward to the iKon slant, it will fit in the collection of iKons nicely.

Why not use a beard trimmer at 0 then use a razor?

Because it's a shaving forum where we like to use more traditional things.

Either a slant or an open comb razor, or a Merkur Futur will happily take off a weeks worth of growth, no need for any electrical gizmos.
