i take it this is still in the process of getting sorted?

just tried to send HM a couple of PM's and it said they were sucessfully sent but nothing in my Sent Items box

or is this just part of the new format?

You did - two identical ones... they arrived... you can see whether they've been read or not in the "tracking" area of the PM section.
