:D being an old fart i enjoy the finer things in life, not a good cigar or fag, but i do enjoy the art of port. once a bottle is open it should be consumed  and boy do i consume some. does enybody else enjoy the fine things in life :?

Yup - High quality dead stuff (that's meat to anyone of a nervous disposition) - mostly acquired via my man Jim at www.ajl-jedbutchers.co.uk and uisge beatha in it's many and varied incarnations (particularly fond of Springbank 21yo or Ardbeg 1974 or indeed Tullamore Dew if I'm feeling of a shamrock persuasion). Blended is almost usable as cooking whisky, but only if there's no proper stuff left.

I don't drink often but I do like Port. I am going to try this one next:

the wife got me a bottle of Offley Port one b'day/xmas and i must say it was enjoyed with friends one evening with a cheese board

very nice

 i used to belong to a port club and they had a latin motto rufly translated "a bottle is dead once opened and needs to be finished" my god this ended with some mad hangovers, like the one im nursing today ;)

I blame port for my present aversion to Tequila. Along time ago I drank rather a lot pf port. My friend (?) offered me a half-pint tequila slammer. I got most of it down before it came back up again. The result being that I now can't stand the smell of the stuff. Still like Port though!

If ye (sic) like a wee dram . . . oh who am I kidding? I emailed Boab in faux Scottish and he said I sounded "like a pirate" . . . .

Anyway my brother runs a well-regarded whisky blog here: http://caskstrength.blogspot.com/

I enjoy a nice glass of port, but always finish a bottle once it's opened. Don't want it to evaporate! For really special occasions I have a bottle of Hennessey XO brandy I got as a Christmas gift...smooooth stuff
