S.O.T.D. Saturday 7th - Friday 13th March 2015, incl.

Thur 12th March 2015

1 Blade= 7 days of good Shaves.

Neutrogena Soap- pre wash
Vulfix 404 mixed
Lea Classic Soap- face lather
ER 1924- on bathroom set handle
Gem S/S [ 7 ]
Alum Rub/Rinse off
Lea A/S Balm
La Toja A/S Lotion

Decided that perhaps the optimum number of good comfortable Shaves, with a Gem S/S, for me is 7. A really nice shave today with a 1924, seemed easier to use whenfitted with handle from Bathroom set.

Prep: Hot wash with Dove soap.
Soap: Shaver Heaven Vetiver & Neroli.
Brush: Vie-Long Horse/badger mix.
Razor: 1966 Gillette Slim Adjustable #4
Blade: SuperMax Blue Diamond Titanium coated. #1
Post: Malizia Uomo Vetyver balm.

Shaver heaven is a very easy to lather and quite protective soap which smells great, produced more than enough lather for a 3 pass plus touch ups shave resulting an a very smooth and soft shave. The Malizia is one of the best smelling balms I have and lasts quite a while whilst not leaving any sticky residue. I feel a faceturbation day ahead.

Thursday

Afternoon, everyone.

Prep: Claus Porto's Lime-oil face soap
Razor: EJ DE89
Blade: Gillete Silver Blue (5)
Brush: Kabuki Bamboo
Shave soap: The Shave Den, violet
Aftershave: Grey Flannel
Cologne: Grey Flannel

Seeing that some of you have been using a fair bit of Grey Flannel recently reminded me how great this stuff is. To add to the violet experience, I used one of the many TSD samples I've got. The scents are always interesting, but the protective qualities of the soaps leave something to be desired. Despite due care and attention, I nicked myself and had some redness below the jaw for a while. It didn't last too long but I'm no longer used to seeing such poor results anymore.

Joseph Rodgers & Sons, 7/8 Quarter Hollow, Barber's Notch

Joseph Rodgers is one of my favorite old Sheffield straight razor maker. The touch on the skin of this great razor is just wonderful, despite of its very old age, it is still capable of giving a superb shave. I also like Elberel P.160 Professional Vetiver aftershave, old style and, unfortunately, discontinued - just like the glorious Elberel P.160 shaving soap - it has a lovely fragrance of menthol and vetiver, leaving a smooth and velvety skin.

  • Pre-Shave: Myrsol Emulsión
  • Soap: Weleda
  • Brush: Omega Badger 63167
  • Bowl: Gerby Bowl
  • Strop: Mastro Livi Loom Strop and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Joseph Rodgers & Sons, 7/8 Quarter Hollow, Barber's Notch
  • Post-Shave: Umbrian Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • After Shave: Elberel P.160 Professional Vetiver

Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Proraso pre-shave - sensitive
Soap: Grandstaff - Kokum & Mango butter
Bowl: Fine Accoutrements
Brush: Omega boar 10005
Razor: ER 1924 + templ8 80mm handle
Blade: Gem (1)
After: Superdrug Forest Fresh AS, Zirh Soothe ASB

Following a suggestion from another member here I used my 1924 for the first use of this blade. Certainly gives a close shave but a tad scary aggression level. Lovely BBS result though so all's well.
It'll soon be the weekend.
