The Astra SPs - although I've only used one - seem smoother but less sharp than their Russian counterparts

Brush: Neep jasper Aztec

Feather AC ProGuard (1)
Semogue SOC Boar
Vitos Extra Super Coconut
Nivea Sensitive balm
Diptyque Philosykos edp

The SOC is my favourite bowl lathering brush: it has the softest tips of any brush I've owned, it eats soap for breakfast, and it whips up a superb lather.

After hitting 10 shaves with my first ProGuard blade, I've restarted with another. I think blade longevity will increase further as my technique improves. I'm only doing 2 passes with the Feather AC and so it's not inconceivable to be getting around 2 weeks of shaves from each blade. This pack could last me into the summer at that rate.

Lovely shave, the past couple haven't been the most comfortable but a switch to a more mild razor helped. Still nice and smooth.

Lush Aqua Marina

LEA Cream - first outing for this one, with a sample kindly gifted by a fellow member. This has the appearance of Angel Delight. No discernible scent. A lather as slick as anything, and it stays slick to the end and doesn't dry out by the time you've worked from one side of the face to the other. Good stuff.

Wednesday viii January 2014

Prep: Shower, L'Oreal daily Purifying Wash
Pre: Tepid water splash
Brush: Fredk Dickinson & Gilroys Boar
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Razor: Ever Ready 1924 "Shovelhead"
Blade: Gem PTFE #1
Post: Alum, home brewed mentholated tea tree witch hazel, Weleda ASB
Fragrance: Lucky Tiger Aspen ASL

Result: My first ever shave with the 1924 ER. Worked very well for me - chin feels very smooth, but a little irritated, so perhaps a little less pressure required. I am giving the MWF a prolonged work out and plan to use it for another week before rotating a different soap or cream in and I have to say that it is jolly good. The D&G brush works well with it. As a small brush it doesn't produce "Father Christmas" type lather, but a good amount for three passes. Using a suribachi bowl to lather in is also helping break it in, so everyone is a winner.

Have a good day, gents.

Jon
