Se handle

At the beginning of the year I'd considered making a longer handle for my 1912 and 1924, I found the originals way too short and never got a very close shave with them compared to my clog-pruf.

Whilst building my new workshop it was suggested by a couple of forum members that se handles would be a good addition to the de handles I'd been making.

Well a few weeks ago I knocked this handle up from some scrap brass hex bar[attachment=10646]
While I find it a little long (maybe 10mm shorter would be better), it has transformed my ever readys and I've been unable to put them down ever since.
The shave is much closer (had a couple of good decapitated zits in fact), and with minimal if any irritation.

What do you guys think ?

Yeah, the 5mm grub is the easiest method although useless with Valets.

Your hex bar first cut is really good to see. I agree - longer handles do wonderful things to GEMs & ERs. I'd like a longer version of the hex 1914 at 80mm total length ...

... and I know I've shown this before, but one of these but a chunkier (15mm?) handle with 80mm total length:

This handle is a Valet VC1/2 on a gold 1912. It want to be thicker ... no longer.

I'll be ordering some more stainless and will have a go at the 1914 and valet handles, see how they turn out.

I would def be interested in a se handle if you ever turn any.

In the meantime - where can I get a 5mm grub screw to use with my existing handles.

eBay - just search for M5 grub screw ... but ... measure how deep the handles you fancy using are and add a couple of mm. Get the ones with an allen key top so you can really screw it into the donor handle. You'll see the value one you have a go.

Made this oversized ever ready style handle this morning. 12mm across flats hex and 85mm long.
Adds a fair amount of heft to my 1924 and again has transformed the way it shaves.

Oof! Yes, please! I'd like one like that ... exactly like that. It's an absolute dead ringer for one of my favourite 1914 handles, but longer ... and the cuts better proportioned on the tail. Consider this an order. I'll PM for details.

The 1914 I like (foreground):
