Should I buy a Merkur?

My 1st razor was a 33c..blah!..aweful..didnt get along with ANY of my sample razors..many years ago when I experimented with DE though... :?

My definition on a BBS shave is smooth 12 hours later.
I get a near BBS shave most days with my SS or rocket with a shark or super thin.
I get a good shave with my old type but it too aggressive for everyday. I didn't like the feel of the open comb.
The Aluminium handle Tech is just not quite right for me.
I couldn't get a commutable shave with the Slim Adjustable no matter what setting it was on.

A multi piece with a similar cut to a SS would be good.

You say that but it's a very effective razor in my opinion. Give it a go, it may surprise you. I was a bit sceptical at first, but it provides a really nice shave, easily on a par with the HD with regards to how effective it is.

Absolutely Jim, I trust your review and indeed I've not said it wouldn't shave well, it sounds like it does. It's just not the first razor that springs into my mind if I ask myself "which Merkur would I most like to try / own?" I'd still go the HD route, it's the iconic Merkur, for me anyway.
