First shave that wasn't with my DE89.
First shave with an adjustable too.

Tall_Paul very sold me his Slim Adjustable - which is in tremendous condition considering it's over 50 years old. There is no damage. At all.

I'm clearly not going to get a perfect shave the first time I used it, and I found I couldn't get the same feedback I'm used to getting with the DE89 - I couldn't hear the bristles being sliced.

I also found it wasn't as aggressive as the DE89, however I've not really played much with the settings yet.

The alum swipe afterwards told a different story than usual. Rather than isolated areas of pain there was a more general, and much, much milder pain all over.

It'll take me a wee while to get used to this, but it felt very pleasant indeed to shave with!

Friday:

Vitos soap
Semogue SOC Boar
ER Streamline
GEM Blade
Pinaud Vanilla AS

Very nice shave. I don't use the Vitos that often, I don't know why because both the scent and the performance are fantastic. I might make it my soap of choice for the weekend.

Prep L'Occitane Vetyver Soap
Razor Wade & Butcher Special
Brush Simpsons M7 LE Finest Silvertip
GFT Coconut Shaving Cream
Alum & Witch Hazel
Niel's Yard Rose Moisturiser
Creed Neroli Savage EDT

The Wade & Butcher melted my whiskers away a superb shave.

Friday 31st August 2012
Prep: Shower
Razor: Ever Ready Streamline
Blade: Modern GEM Coated
Brush: Turkish No. 6 Horse
Soap: Arko pressed into a container
Aftershave: Nivea Sensitive Balm

Being the proud owner of a new (to me) ER Streamline set containing a strop and stropper I was determined to make an unused NOS GEM carbon blade from the fifties into a good shaving blade. Last night I spent twenty minutes stropping the blade and the result this morning.....dire, awful, no better than before I stropped it, a blade that is, (IMHO) unworthy of even being used for model making!

A change to one of the modern coated GEM stainless blades and a perfect shave! I doubt I shall bother stropping again!

The Arko and the cheap horse brush performed superbly.

Regards
Dick.

NGT Exfoliating Face Wash
2 min hot towel soak
Truefit & Hill No.10 pre-shave skin protection
Cella soap
TS Best Badger brush
Merkur Future set at 3
New 7.O'clock blue
3 passes
Rehab Calm Balm
Trumper West Indian Limes Skin Food
Viktor & Rolf Spice Bomb A/S
Trumper Bay Rum cologne

The full works over a one hour leisurely shave. Face like a baby's bum (and quite smooth as well !)

Friday:
  • Merkur Futur
  • Personna, Red
  • EJ Best
  • Palmolive Shaving Cream
Opened the Futur to 2, one pass, against the grain. This blade will last two weeks ... easily.

Friday

Edwin Jagger DE89
Gillette Platinum "Swede" Blade
Edwin Jagger Silvertip Brush
Proraso Shaving Cream (Green)
Clinique Post Shave Soother

Ian

Friday 31st August

Hot shower and Facial scrub
3P Pre/Post shave Cream
Vintage C Friedr Schmidt Revisor 4/8
Semogue 1800 Boar Brush
Vitos Green Soap
Alum Block
Organic Shea Butter
Floid Original AS
Lavanda EDC
Dax Super Neat

This Revisor is a great little razor. The scales are a little battered, so I am considering having them replaced with something a little more exotic. Three pass BBS.

Hello Brian, I only just realised who you were, just in case I didn't say hello when you first joined welcome now.
