Fine Platinum after shave
I was put off a long time ago re. my 1914. Clearly, they were made for different blades (the wedge-shaped hone and strop models?). So I always got a bit blade movement...even when shimming. However, when choosing my razor this morning, I found it looking a bit sorry for itself at the back of my drawer. Guilt set in, so I lathered up, didn't bother with a shim, and did my routine.
Ok, a little bit movement away from the stops but, it really made little difference to the outcome; all I did was adjust the shaving angle - as we do. An excellent result; and certainly not worth consigning it to the back of the drawer!!
Delighted...'cos, whilst I know they're not like hen's teeth, you do have to dig around bit to get one in reasonable condition.
I may try a small rubber band shim, just to hold the blade a wee bit tighter when the gate closes. If not, no worries.
