'Super pit!' J. Allen & sons

Here's my most rescent restoration, a 6/8 full wedge by J. Allen & sons. The blade was in a real bad way when I got it and the scales were history....[attachment=7950][attachment=7951][attachment=7952]
After a little hand sanding the blade revealed to be very pitted but it didn't dishearten me. I'm not one for writing off a razor and to be honest I kinda like old wedges with a bit of character. Anyway, with a lot of sanding and buffing I finally got a nice finish on it. I could have removed all the pitting as there is plenty of meat on the razor being a full wedge but I do like the way it looks. It's kind of mean with plenty of war wounds. [attachment=7953]... More to follow....

[attachment=7954][attachment=7955].....
So I made some mean looking matt black frosted acrylic scales to match, and finished with a camel bone spacer and stainless steel stacked washers. All held together with nickel silver pins. [attachment=7956][attachment=7957][attachment=7958]
it isn't the best looking razor around, it hasn't got sleek lines and a flawless mirror finish but I really like it. And I honed it up last night, luckily the pitting ended away from the bevel and I got a super edge on it, finished it on my nani12k and a jolly good strop. Shaved with her this morning, smooth as. I'm very pleased. I'm just waiting for the moment when my concentration lapses and that square point has a bite. This one has gone straight into my rotation. I don't have much info on the maker or and dates so if anyone could help it would be appreciated?? Thank, rob.
