Just survived my first shave with one of these contraptions! And what a cool shave, bit different from my normal 1912, although I'm guessing that's down to the open comb design making it feel a bit, well, poky on your face!

Nice result a comfortable BBS apart from one small area, I'll get it next time!

The valets are great fun, i often use mine when i get a bit bored of my de's.

What blades do they take? Sorry if that is a stupid question but I have recently acquired a 1912 and am falling in love with it! I know nothing about the Valets?

All Valets take Feather FHS-5 blades (available from Connaught) I think.
Some will also take a despined GEM blade.

I think it's the earlier VC1 that can take a GEM with its spine removed.

How can you distinguish a vc1 from other models (should I try to pick one up from the bay). What to look out for. Got plenty gem blades so not wanting to move on to feathers
