What a difference a shim makes

Continuing to dabble with this concept, I tried a blade shim in a cheap Chinese "pot metal" Gillette Tech of current manufacture. This is the newest (& cheapest) head design that supports the entire blade. I also used a small white Delrin washer on the handle to make tightening less abusive on the flimsy plate as can be seen in the photo. The blade used for shaving was a thrice used Gillette Platinum Plus one from Brazil. Despite the light weight and cheap metal I received one of the best shaves I have ever had in my life. The razor head was as stable as a railroad tie and the shave was just simply beyond belief!! Just ever so slightly more aggressive than a regular Tech, but just enough to fill that small void that many claim the Tech leaves re aggression. I have just become a convert to the shim/rigidity theory.

Whuddathunk a razor that cost less than $5 shipped from from China and hobbled up with a shim would work so damn perfectly?
