Your worst DE shave.

Fatip Piccolo.... truly not my friend in shaving. I can't believe how bad a razor it is, at least in my hands. Absolutely the most harsh and unsmooth thing ever to glide over my skin.

My Worst DE Shave..That's Easy..Every Darn DE Shave that I Have had was a Shit Shave..o_O

Having now started to dabble with SE shaving, Injectors and AC blades, I can see what you mean and I can see myself using my DE razors less and less, I would try a straight but that would probably mean even more redundant shaving kit! One day maybe I will try a Straight Razor but I have no clue on where to start, there seems to be so many different Straight Razor choices and no obvious beginners razor as it were.

Thanks, now guess what I am about to do after posting this reply.......Correct, I will be looking at Straight Razors. But maybe wait until after the festive period as I already have my quota of presents so far.

Actually that is some good and timely advice, my nephew has been shaving with a shavette for the past year or so and he is a bit strapped for cash after just buying his first flat, we have talked about shaving and I think I may have an idea for a house warming and/or Christmas gift for him. He likes the shavette as it it cheaper than Cartridges and he likes the way it shaves now he has the hang of it, he told me how he went for the shavette as a real Straight was out of his budget.

@Fergiebilly spoken like a true zealot!

No idea what an AC razor is!

Artist Club.

A blade originally designed for a straight type razor with replaceable blades such as Feather and Kai etc. blades, now being used in many SE razors such as the Above The Tie SE1/SE2, Razorock Hawk or the Ikon El Jefe, there are quite a few on the market now. I have an Ikon El Jefe SE and it is the best razor I have by far, far better than any DE I have tried so far.

Nothing wrong with a shavette tbh with a good sharp blade especially if you don't want all the stropping rigmarole. A straight is a step up though. There are several reputable sellers mentioned in my "straight talking" thread who will provide a quality straight razor for reasonable prices. Most do it for the love and to keep the tradition alive rather than to get rich.

Thanks, I will definitely have a read of that.

Yes you can get a very good vintage Sheffield Steel for £50 and German blades for less than that. Not bad considering that with care it will last a lifetime. I would point you in the direction of this chap who sells vintage razors and makes cheap beginner strops.

This chap in the US is also a specialist in the newbie market and also has an excellent reputation and ships to the UK cheaply.
