Shaving Bowl Round Two

Been in the pottery.

He's ok with doing another run. Price would be the same.

As for the colour, well here are the colours he uses below. These colours do vary in the firing so they can come out light to dark.

But !!!! The one he did last time was the easiest one for him colour wise as the wording is the colour of the clay below and the wording is cut away.

If he does other colours he can't do the same. Instead he would paint the wording on. There was another bowl he made as a test sample which I bought and sold on. Unfortunately, I haven't the pictures of it. It was ok but in my opinion not as nice looking as the version we ran with. You can see on the blue jug the decoration which would be similar to the writing style. He may also charge a little more.

This cut away wording is what he and his father are famous for, other things are a little outside of his style. It all sounds a bit limited, but that's just the way he works and how he has been taught.

Here is a link to what is mostly his fathers work. I haven't asked but he may well be able to do the same more honey coloured with the cut away style wording.

I would be interested in a different colour from the last bowl. I appreciate that wording would thereby become more difficult but I have a great liking for blue glaze with cream writing. I would pay a reasonable premium for this as I would like it to be different from my other bowl. I will, however, definitely take what everyone agrees on.

How about scratching 'x/30' on the bases?

Ok I'll get that done for you. As for the numbers, yes I as going to get him to do that. He scratches details on the bottom so it won't be an issue.

I had the impression that they would all need to be the same but your post suggests that is not the case. Happy to pay a few pounds extra as long as it doesn't effect the quantity pricing for others.

Please ask him to scratch 30/30 on them all - and I'll definitely get what I want that way! Damned plagiarists!

How about one of those colourways for a glazed internal - which I really like - and as it was last time on the outside, with letters famously cut into the clay? Do we have a library photo of one of the last/first bowls?

I'll ask n the inside

As for the number I can make sure you get number 30 that's not a problem, but what if we go over 30 in the run ?

It would be a whole lot easier for me if it was one colour and no doubt for the potter. The last run were all one colour. Ordering different colours does make it a bit more of a task.

Other colours can be done but, with the painted wording they really don't look so good. I suppose another easy way would be no wording and a scratched in acknowledgement on the base.
