This Smiths PRS-36 arrived in the post today (photo courtesy of Timefactors). Great looking cushion case and a very modest 36mm, which I personally like, though it wears larger due to the square-ish shape.
Unfortunately it gains approx. 15 mins every hour! When I contacted Timefactors I was told "these movements (NOS Peseux 7040 hand-winding movement) are newly serviced and a few of them had too much oil, which stick the hairspring and makes it run fast. It should clear after a few days running." I was asked if I could run it for a couple of days and see how it goes.
Has anyone else ever encountered this type of problem and did it clear up? I haven't worn a mechanical hand-winding watch since I was 16 (50 years ago)...
I'd be inclined to ask for one without 'too much oil.' If the oil gets everywhere it's a bit of a booger. @jaycey is the one to ask.
