Fri 3rd SOTD
Soap Catie's BubblesOcean Grove
Bowl Red Nubs
Brush Yaqi 28mm Synthetic
Razor Gillette Red Tip
Blade SuperMax BlueDiamond 1
Post & Aftershave
Ice Water + Special Thayers Mix
Old Spice Lime
Load from soap tub and working it in the nubs bowl results in a nice creamy lather. Scent is mild oceany like. Reasonably slick. Shave with razor and new blade was good combo. Hardly feel any blade....it was smooth & sharpish. Tried more diagonal atg but suffered 2 weepers. 3+1pass WTG, XTG/ATG, ATG + atg. Refreshing ice water rinse followed by special Thayers.
BBS results with rating of 9/10

3/4/20

Soap - Proraso Green
Brush - Yaqi Rainbow/Faux Horse
Razor - FAT Handle Tech
Blade - Bic Platinum Chrome (6)
Post - Alum
Balm - RSC
AS - Benjamin's Bay Rum/Pimento

I did it.

I managed to finish a soap.

*cries*

Proraso Green, you were my first 'proper' shaving soap (aside from Palmolive bought from Wilko) and my introduction to the wonderful world of wet shaving, I may have not appreciated you fully at all times as my technique wasn't the best but you were a good shaving soap in the end.

Thank you.

I just had a look at my Amazon history, and I placed an order for it in August 2016!

Have a good weekend chaps.

3 April 2020 – afternoon – no rush these days and was bored:
Four day shave. After my success with the Braveheart head I thought I should be able to get the same result with the R89. And I did, with a 99% BBS result. This was four passes with just one small nick.
Last time I used the Erasmic soap I wasn't happy with the lather, but my new red shaving bowl (with nubs) worked wonders, got a really good lather. Still had to load the brush twice but the result shows it's mainly down to technique rather than the quality of the product (or lack of). Others may disagree but I feel that persevering is the key.

Pre-shave: Aldi bath soap & Nuage Shave Oil
Brush: Badger no name
Razor: MÜHLE R89
Blade: BIC
Soap: Erasmic Tub

Alum Block: Ajanta
After Shave Balm: Bustamente (finished)
Bold = change from last shave

Fri 3rd April
Omega 11137 boar
L`Occitane Cade cream
Occams Hiram Commander / Plate 3
Schick Proline [ 6 ]
Jaguar Prestige A/S Lotion

I have had some good Shaves this week, but this was by far the best. This could well be the best AC/SE Razor that I have used, yes the Shave was that good, ultra close finish with no threat of any problems during post Shave. The Modern AC/SE Razors may not have the same cachet as some Vintage SE Razors, but they do provide excellent Shaves.

+ 1 on the Muhle R89...one of my favourite DE razors. (y)

Amazing shave tonight, the last razor that the late Neil Miller sharpend for me was a nos 5/8 gong, and i had forgotten not only the he sharpend it but that i even had it.
5/8th is such a small/light razor i never thought id get on with it, so it got put to the back of the cabinet and for gotten.
So i mixed up some original p160 grabbed a new forest brush and my dirty bird scuttle and just went too it.

Amazing shave bbs.
I doff my hat again to an old friend pored a large scotch and toasted my late friend, i so miss our chats.

What do you think of the brush Russ?
I Love the Handle , Jury is still out on the Knot , the one I have is set quite high and then has a pretty big glue bump and I am not used to that as none of my other Brushes have that , I ,like the feel of the knot , so will use it more as I may just being prejudiced towards the glue bump as have got it in my head I don't like big glue bumps :).

It could be an imperfection you come to love!

A bit of a rarity for me but for a change I shaved this morning (I am usually a creature of the night) and the theme was 'Gleaming home, gleaming Hone'

Shiny happy razor - Brass long handled Hone
Shiny happy blade - Feather
Shiny happy brush - Cadman 30mm Tuxedo
Shiny happy soap - Extro Barocco
Shiny happy aftershave - Penhaligon's Bayolea
Shiny happy people - Me

If there is one thing good coming from this lockdown (other than staving off this Cornoavirus) and that is I don't think I can recall our house being cleaner. Today was time to blitz the kitchen and blitz it we did. This evenings dinner was served on the floor being as we have so much faith in our level of cleanliness.

This mornings shave came in the heavyweight version with the Hone battering its way through the bristle wars. Give it a Feather blade and this is one mean piece of kit. There ain't anything it can't shift and it does it all with a great sense of assertiveness. If you can cut yourself with this thing then you must be doing something dreadfully wrong. It might leave a few bruises with its physical size and weight hammering the shit out of your face, but blood it doesn't do.

The Extro is one of those strange scents which gets close to Harpic but for some reason is perfectly acceptable. I must try Harpic as an aftershave splash one day to draw a comparison. One thing which really is outstanding (if not its scent) is ability to throw up a bowl full of brilliant lather which has all those qualities one dearly loves to see in a soap. I love these Extro soaps. The Cadman does what the Cadman does and what it does do is a sterling job. Great stuff.

End results were a big beaming smile and a face so smooth these women chose to send me a short video of what I could have had if it wasn't for the sake I am stuck at home. A big 'Boooooooooooo'

After being so proud of the kitchen and having my cleaning head on I decided to polish the Hone and now a big shiny chunk of brass sits waiting for its next outing on my face. Hone sweet Hone.

It is that time for some Japanese ladies
