Aquisitions - October 2024

Nah! That's an original and now discontinued. The special edition release I mentioned stated so on the packaging.

It's all in Italian so I'm not absolutely sure but I don't think this is an ingredients list, more a how to use instructions! I'm 100% certain that it's exactly the same packaging as the last brick I brought many year's ago and I was lucky to pick that one up as it was almost unobtainable then!
This is the real deal for sure! :)

Without a doubt!

Damn it! I have the formulation from the "special edition" resissue, but hoped to confirm that formulation with a known original. Whatever. It's a beaut!

https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/p-160-the-strange-story-of-the-soap-that-wouldnt-die.45558/ ... although the pictures are not present, the part that tells of P.160 being made by Elberel and stated on the back as a footnote along with "Nuovo" on the front absolutely describes this pack. If I'm reading it right, this pack is pre-1997. 1990s, for which real almond kernel oil would have been the correct ingredient although it likely pre-dates INCI requirements hence not listed and there is no "e" on the package either which came into effect at the end of the 1990s.

Ah! Ingredients list: Aqua, Stearic Acid, Tallow, Cocos nucifera, Potassium Hydroxide,Sodium Hydroxide, Parfum, Potassium Carbonate, Tetrasodium EDTA ... no almond? Maybe that's in the "parfum". The later "special edition" included Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil (Almond Kernel Oil) but that might just be a posh way of saying Benzaldehyde as per all the other Italian soaps of that era ... and lacked the tallow.

Thank you for posting this link, very interesting indeed.
I have no doubt that the soap I have is the original P.160 that was so loved by Italian barbers and feel I have been fortunate enough to be able to purchase another one of these wonderful 1kg blocks, happy days!
