Bit of a random thing to post on here but I figured it was as good a place as any to ask. My jeans are slipping almost constantly and it's incredibly annoying especially when out and about, to have to be pulling them up so frequently. I've nearly always bought Debenhams own Red Herring brand. But when I go to buy new ones it's really hit and miss if they have the right size in and I like to try things on instore as I can't be bothered with having to send back online orders that don't fit. After a few unsuccessful attempts to get some new pairs, out of desperation I ended up buying some Tesco jeans, something I thought I'd never do. They were elasticated and actually felt really comfy when I tried them on and bought them.
Soon after I realised that they were slipping badly however tightly I fastened my belt. I put it down to the fact that they were so cheap and had less belt loops than I was used to, only 5. There was one loop right over my arse then a massive gap to the next loops on the sides of my waist. I figured I needed more loops so went out shopping and obsessively counted the number of belt loops on every pair of jeans that I liked in my size. I guessed that it was most likely a trait of cheapo jeans to only have a puny number of belt loops, but to my surprise found that even some of the more expensive jeans only had 5 loops too. I ended up buying some Levi 501 jeans just because they were the only jeans in the shop in my size that had 7 belt loops. Within days I realised that my £60 ‘proper' jeans were slipping just as badly as my £15 cheapo jeans, so wondered if the belt loop thing wasn't as significant a factor as I'd presumed after all.
I even wonder if the belt itself is to blame. I used the same River Island leather one for over 15 years and never had a problem. Then I needed a bigger size and got a Tesco one when I got their jeans. It's still leather but made of cheap stuff I guess. I am still trying to figure out why a pair of jeans that felt so comfy in the shop simply will not stay up even with a belt on. Could it be that my Tesco belt has warped badly thus is not doing its job properly (on one side of my waist it's pretty much rolled right back onto itself)? Could even the heavy buckle be dragging them down (it digs into me when I sit down anyway)? Perhaps it's to do with the style of fit? They are straight leg and I normally get bootcut, but that said the Tesco ones that slipped badly were bootcut anyway.
I have a bit of a belly but not a huge one and no bigger than a couple of years ago when I didn't have the slipping jeans problem. Any ideas? Do you think I need a different style of jeans (hell will freeze over before I can wear skinny jeans!), a better quality belt or something else? Sorry for the long post, and thanks to anyone who made it to the end, I'm just sick of having to pull my jeans up what seems like every minute of the day, I am reluctant even to put anything in the pockets, like a phone, as I feel it will drag them down even quicker. I can't really put the belt on any tighter or it will be uncomfy. Help!
