Hiya,
The sandalwood version's been used 8-10 times now, with brushes lacking much backbone to others that are especially good for loading hard soaps because of their knot's resistance. All types have worked anywhere from good for the flopmeister to excellent for all other knots. The soap loads and lathers easier than many other soaps, for whatever the reason.
Performance is right up there. Both the cushion and slip are first rate, and post shave skin thing is also quite good The scent's a sandalwood blend, and the interpretation hits my nose just fine. Definitely not a single note frag, which is fine since this homage is very pleasing and reminds me of other dry woodsy frags.
Price is better than lots of other soaps out there. Even with a 3.5 ounce puck inside a plastic tub it's only $15-16 and less for just the refill. To me it's quite reasonable for what you get and so far seems like it'll last a while.
I'd seen posts regarding how the soap was concocted and the references to a well known Deutsch tallow soap with supposedly great everything, but can't confirm it, having found that well known soap happens to smell like dead things and I couldn't finish one shave with it anywhere near my nose. Just saying, it probably wasn't for me.
The Fine product lived up to my hopes when buying blind......definitely worth a look,
Martin
