Green tea recommendations

I'm sure I used to like green tea once but all I seem to pick up is the stuff that tastes like dishwater. It doesn't need to be extracted from the droppings a high mountain badger either.

I once worked with someone (female) who used to drink a variety of herbal and fruit teas. They always smell so nice, but when you drink them.........well let's just say that they seem to lack something.

...the stuff I've tried does indeed taste like bark.

Ohhh.....tree hugger? Moi? Nah...I do have a chainsaw but a dicky tummy after eating some stinking overripe cheese.

The green tea sample pack at Nothing but Tea might be an idea to findout what you like, 20 odd different greens from Japan, China and beyond.

Green tea benefits hugely from being fresh. Tends to be best to order them straight from China or Japan.
Dragon Tea House on ebay is pretty good value, maybe a 100g pack of something from here if you don't want to wade through samples.
Long Jing is possbily the most famous of all the teas produced in China, well worth trying:

Though the real deal long jing is a little dearer: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.postcardteas.com/tea/green/West_Lake_Long_Jing_Green_Tea" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.postcardteas.com/tea/green/W ... _Green_Tea</a><!-- m -->

Thanks! :D Just ordered some tea for my wife, she´s crazy about the stuff.

I really like 'genmai' tea, it's Japanese green tea with brown rice: lovely nutty rice taste.

Sencha is the stuff they serve in Japanese restaurants and what comes to mind when someone says 'green tea'. Jasmine tea the stuff they serve at Chinese restaurants.

Like most things, there's different grades and quality.

You can't go wrong with getting Japanese tea from Japan Centre

I got Chinese tea from this place: http://www.teasmith.co.uk/teas.php
You can try their sample pack. Had a go with their "pu'er" tea sample pack... YUCK Tastes like licking some old wooden furniture :D Go with the jasmine sample pack.
