Time? Less than 2 hours once you have the bits. Cost? By the time you add up everything, it doesn't work out cheaper than a pro basic strop - in fact probably more but you're paying for the fun :lol: .

I like that philosophy and always have

Everything I can do myself, I do unless it is such a no brainer that the end result will be substantially quicker, cheaper or turn out vastly superior or I am unable.

Hats off to you.

Nice work Michael!

Well, Neil Miller has got the best linen, but you allready knew that :lol: Seriously though, he has the best linen for stroping.

how about something like this <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Linen-Cotton-Herringbone-Curtain-Upholstery-fabric-/190525646598" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Linen-Cotton-Herr ... 0525646598</a><!-- m -->

Thanks Mikael, how could I have forgotten?! And Nic, curtains is a great idea (not slicing them up :D that really would be 'curtains') but those kinds of suppliers!
