Le Grelot

Thread resurrection. Came across the site while googling this razor. Had a great smooth uneventful shave with it this morning. Mine is an OC Version and although the handle doesn't look like a match it has the shape and tab to attach to the stropper so must the be correct one.

So the loaner turned into an owner razor! Excellent!!
Yes ... the loaner was returned with much thanks to @UKRob and I found one for myself. Mine came with a "Plum Bristol" wedge, which honed up. To be frank, I've used it most with a GEM blade and a couple of extra spines underneath the back edge of the blade.

So far I've just used a Gem blade with nothing added. Have the original wedge but need to get it honed. I have several other wedges out getting honed so I'll experiment and see what works best.

Just came across this thread again. Here’s the original razor - I had it re-plated in silver after @pjgh used it. I no longer have any Heljestrand wedge blades but the original Grelot blade, although having some pit marks, might well take a decent enough edge to shave with. I just need to come up with something to attach it to when honing.
